White, sparkling smiles are often equated with good health, an attractive appearance, and overall success. If your teeth are yellowed or stained, tooth whitening can help you create a whiter, brighter smile.
In Smile Designs teeth whitening is a highly safe procedure. Whitening technology has come a long way in the last decade. With the proper approach and a healthy mouth, teeth whitening is harmless. Teeth whitening in an unhealthy mouth could cause complications. That is why it is important to be under the direct supervision of a dental professional during the process.
Types of Bleaching
There are basically two ways to bleach your teeth: with in-office and supervised at-home procedures. With in-office procedure, in just over an hour, you will leave with a brighter smile that makes you look great, feel better and glad to smile like never before! When this option is used we recommend to also use the at-home whitening, since you will be able to “touch-up” and maintain your beautiful smile.
With the at-home procedure we first take an impression of your teeth from which thin, clear plastic trays are made. These trays will hold the bleaching agent against the teeth. We will supply you with concentrated bleach gel and instructions on how to get the white, bright smile you want. Most people achieve the desired results in about one to two weeks. Since you keep the trays, you are able to "touch-up" whenever you feel the need........be it three months, six months, a year or more. Additional tubes of bleach are always available for purchase from our office.

Details of Teeth Whitening
It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth and we will do a consultation to discuss your concern/desires so we can recommend the best treatment for you as many products are now available for patients to whiten their teeth. These products include commercially available strips, custom fabricated trays with a beaching gel or bleaching in the dental office using UV light or laser as the catalyst.
Tooth whitening can be used to correct tooth discoloration. These discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer the best and safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile for your individual case. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.
